Dry Needling

What is Dry Needling?

In Dry Needling, a fine needle is inserted into the trigger points which encourages blood to pool around the knot to assist with oxygen supply to the area, helping to flush away acidic chemicals. Only therapists trained in Dry Needling can perform the treatment, single-use sterile needles are always used and disposed of immediately after treatment. The therapist will advise of precautions related to treatment and potential side effects.

How will it help me?

There are many conditions that dry needling can help including:

  • Shoulder pain
  • Headaches
  • Knee pain
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Sciatica
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Hip and gluteal pain

Dry needling work by stimulating a trigger point in a skeletal muscle. You may know it as a knot a, and it can cause more widespread pain than just the muscle in which it’s found. Dry needling works to release the trigger point, relieving pain and improving movement. A twitch can occur when the needle goes into the trigger point, and may be a sign that the therapy is working.
